Grief and Support
Grief and Support
Grief comes in many forms—and for those of us who share our lives with animals, the loss of a beloved pet can be just as painful as losing a human companion. It's a grief that often goes unspoken, yet it shapes us deeply.
One of my earliest memories is losing my little rescue pup, a mottled brown pug mix named Tuffy. I was four years old, sick with measles and shut inside a dark room for days. When I was finally allowed outside, I ran to the front stoop and called for Tuffy. My mother told me he was gone. I cried all night. That moment has never left me—and it was only the beginning. Over the years, I have loved and lost so many fur, fin, and feathered friends. It never gets easier, but each loss has taught me something about connection, compassion, and healing.
This page exists because grief deserves a space. A space to be acknowledged, understood, and shared. Whether you are mourning a recent loss or remembering a pet who passed years ago, you are not alone. This community is here to offer comfort, support, and a place to honour the deep bond we share with the animals who are part of our lives.
