Why Tip to Tail
Hi, I’m Jodi—founder of Tip to Tail, lifelong animal lover, and a firm believer that pets are family.
I started Tip to Tail to create the kind of resource I wish I’d had—real-world advice, honest conversations, and support for pet owners facing everyday challenges. From horses to fish, anxious dogs to emergency vet visits, I’ve lived the ups and downs of pet care. This site is about sharing what works, learning from each other, and helping more pets stay in the homes that love them.

About Jodi Morel
Hi, I’m Jodi Morel.
I grew up on a farm surrounded by animals, so loving and caring for them has always been part of who I am. Animals were never “just pets” in our home — they were companions, protectors, personalities, and family. That connection stayed with me into adulthood, and I’ve been blessed to have furry family members around me my entire life.
Over the years, that love has only grown stronger. But so has my awareness of how fragile pet ownership can become when families are faced with unexpected financial hardship.
The moment that changed everything
One experience, in particular, stayed with me.
I was at the veterinary office with my pup when a couple stood ahead of me with their little terrier. Their dog needed surgery. One of the men was in tears while his husband tried to talk through the options. I overheard him say that if they paid for the surgery, they would not be able to pay rent or buy groceries.
The only other options were to surrender their dog or put him down. I was heartbroken.
That moment opened my eyes in a deeper way. After that, I started noticing how often similar situations happen. I saw more GoFundMe pages from pet owners facing sudden emergencies and impossible choices. I saw families trying to come up with thousands — sometimes tens of thousands — of dollars to save an animal they loved like family. I saw how quickly a medical emergency could become a crisis that threatened not only a pet’s health, but also their place in the home.
And that is where this idea came from.
Why this matters to me
I believe pets belong in loving homes, not in shelters because a family hit a financial wall.
I also believe that many pet parents are doing their very best. They love their animals deeply. They are responsible, caring people. But life happens. Emergencies happen. Vet bills can be overwhelming. And too often, families are left feeling ashamed, desperate, or alone when what they really need is support, education, and practical options.
This mission comes from both love and heartbreak — love for the animals who give us so much, and heartbreak over how many families are forced into painful decisions because help came too late or wasn’t available at all.
My mission
My mission is simple: To help keep pets out of shelters and in their loving homes.
I want to support pet families through education, trusted resources, meaningful partnerships, and products that give back. My hope is to build something that not only celebrates the joy pets bring to our lives, but also helps create real support for the people who love them.
What I hope to build
This is more than a website. It’s the beginning of a bigger vision — one rooted in compassion, community, and practical help.
My goal is to create a space that supports pet owners while also helping organizations and initiatives that work to keep pets safe, cared for, and at home with their families whenever possible.
Because when we help people care for their pets, we protect something deeply important: the bond between animals and the humans who love them.
Meet The Home Team

🐾 Stark
Breed: Border Collie & English Retriever mix (probably)
Personality: Always happy, loves everyone, and believes every guest is here just to see her.
Fun Fact: Bailey is the ultimate "good girl"... unless there are snacks on the counter. Then she becomes a stealthy snack bandit with a talent for vanishing biscuits and unattended sandwiches.
What She’s Taught Us: Joy is contagious—and maybe don’t leave chicken on the edge of the counter.
🐾 Bailey
Inhabitants: Discus, rapidly replicating tetras, cory cats, and one stunning wild Altum angelfish
Vibe: Serene, challenging, and deeply rewarding
Backstory: What started as a 20-gallon guppy tank for a curious two-year-old quickly spiraled into a full-scale aquatic adventure. Today, it’s a thriving 180-gallon planted tank filled with discus, breeding tetras, bottom-dwelling cory cats, and one majestic wild Altum angelfish—my pride and joy.
I’ve bred and raised angelfish, managed tank politics, and researched endlessly to keep peace (and water parameters) stable. I’ve even made airport runs to pick up fish, resuscitated jumpers, and mourned the losses that come with learning the hard way.
What They’ve Taught Us: True fishkeeping is part science, part patience, and part heartache. But when it works, it’s art in motion—and worth every water change.
🐾 The Discus Tank
Breed: Bernese Mountain Dog × Great Pyrenees
Personality: Adventurous, clever, and always plotting his next caper.
Fun Fact: Winston moonlights as a “fashion designer”—using his teeth. Left unattended, socks, shirts, and even jackets may be reimagined with his signature chew pattern.
What He’s Taught Us: Creativity takes many forms—and a closed closet is a happy closet.

Breed: Black domestic shorthair (rescue)
Personality: Calm, adaptable, and secretly in charge of the household.
Backstory: Orphaned young after his mother was hit by a car, Stark was bottle-raised at a rural vet clinic and came to us through a friend on Facebook.
Fun Fact: He’s lived alongside poodles, big dogs, and everything in between—always with quiet grace. Once a bold outdoor explorer, a few run-ins with a tough neighbor cat named Scrappy convinced him that beds and laps are far superior to alleyway turf wars.
What He’s Taught Us: Resilience is quiet. And sometimes the coziest life is the bravest one.
